Andrey Rublev v Felix Auger-Aliassime Head to Head

Six previous meetings have led to five wins for Rublev and one Auger-Aliassime.

Two of these matches came in 2024 when Rublev won in Rotterdam and Madrid. Auger-Aliassime’s only win also came in Rotterdam in 2022.

Rublev Ends de Minaur’s Run

Andrey Rublev has had a tricky season and going up against a player who has barely lost this season in Alex de Minaur, things were expected to get quite challenging.

And they did, especially when Rublev had a chance to serve out the match at 5-3 in the final set and missed a match-point in three successive games.

In fact, de Minaur saved five match-points to take it to the tie-breaker before Rublev had two more match-points which he muffed up.

It was off his eighth opportunity that Rublev finally clinched the encounter, two hours and 42 minutes after it had begun and with it he entered the semifinal.

He had earlier ousted Alexander Bublik and Nuno Borges in straight sets in the first two rounds, following on from a semifinal appearance at Montpellier and quarterfinal in Rotterdam.

Auger-Aliassime Benefits from Medvedev’s Injury

It’s been that kind of a tournament for Felix Auger-Aliassime. For the second match in a row, it was his opponent’s injury that helped him make it through to the next stage with the Canadian having entered his quarterfinal against Daniil Medvedev following the withdrawal of Hamad Medjedovic.

This time around, Auger-Aliassime, took to the court at least and clinched the first set 6-3 against Medvedev before his opponent opted to walk out.

Interestingly, Auger-Aliassime was informed of the retirement by the umpire’s announcement who had earlier been informed by Medvedev he was retiring. There were no handshakes between the players, leaving Auger-Aliassime a tad confused.

Either ways, Auger-Aliassime will now look to make it to his third final of the season having won two titles already – at Adelaide and Montpellier.

Rublev v Auger-Aliassime Prediction

While on form, Auger-Aliassime should be the favourite, his head to head record against Rublev is a mitigating factor. The other issue is that Auger-Aliassime hasn’t had a lot of time on court, and that could work against him.

Still, at 7/5, he is far too distant a second favourite and we back him to clinch at least a set here.
