Francisco Cerundolo v Alexandre Muller Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in Auckland last year and Muller had eased past Cerundolo in that quarterfinal.
Cerundolo Overcomes Slow Start against Darderi
Having faced a tough first set against Hugo Gaston in the first round here, Francisco Cerundolo endured a similar issue in his second round encounter against Luciano Darderi as well.
The difference was, he had managed to clinch that opening set against Gaston while Darderi turned a 2-4 deficit around win the set in a tie-breaker.
Cerundolo turned things around rather well from that point onward though, winning 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-2 in two hours and 11 minutes to enter the quarterfinal for the second week in a row.
Last week he had gone all the way to the final of the Argentina Open before going down to Joao Fonseca in that title-decider. He will hope to emulate that feat here at the very least.

Muller Stuns Etcheverry
A title winner in Hong Kong earlier this season, Alexandre Muller had had an underwhelming start to the clay court swing for 2025.
Muller had fallen in the first round of the Rosario Challenger for starters and then lost to Laslo Djere in his Argentina Open opener.
Which is why when he was drawn to face Joao Fonseca in the first round of this competition and started a 7/2 underdog, it looked like the writing was on the wall.
Muller, aided by Fonseca’s exhaustion from having played all week previously, found a way to shock his opponent. And he then caused the second upset of the tournament in as many matches when he overcame Tomas Martin Etcheverry in two hard-fought sets.
He won 7-5, 7-6 (5) in two hours and nine minutes despite being a break down in each of the two sets.
Can he now take down another Argentine?
Cerundolo v Muller Prediction
While Muller has been in good touch, Cerundolo has both, the experience on clay against a player of Muller’s style and the form and confidence. Backing him to grab this in straight sets.
Cerundolo v Muller Tips
- Cerundolo to win in straight sets: 6/4
