Karen Khachanov v Dan Evans Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two players between 2020 and 2024 and Evans has won every single time. Their last meeting came at the 2024 US Open where Evans was a winner in five sets.
Khachanov 2-4 for the Season
Karen Khachanov had a solid season in 2024 and that had been on the back of a fourth round appearance at the Australian Open, a semifinal showing in Marseille and a title victory at Doha.
In comparison, this year, Khachanov has fared miserably with just two wins from four tournaments.
This includes a third round appearance at the Australian Open but three other first round exits – in Hong Kong and at Marseille and Doha as well which means his ranking has fallen to 24th having started the season at 19th.
In terms of defending ranking points, Khachanov has a bit of a room now when he takes to court given that he was knocked out of this tournament last year in the second round and then lost his opener at the Indian Wells Masters.
He would still want to collect the points though given what’s to follow – a title win at Almaty, final appearance in Vienna and a semifinal appearance at the Paris Masters.

Evans Has Played Challengers All Season
Dan Evans enters this tournament on a wild-card which makes this his first tournament entry at this level for the year.
Ranked 167th in the world at the moment, Evans has fallen off the rankings cliff drastically after having broken into the top 25 in 2021. Two years later, in August 2023, Evans had even hit a career-high ranking of 21st.
Since then, however, Evans has been on a bit of a downslide with just three main draw wins in the first three months of 2024, another three in the next three months and a third round appearance at the US Open being the only highlights of the season.
So much so that Evans has been forced to play on the Challenger circuit and will be featuring in the main draw at this level for the first time this season.
Khachanov v Evans Prediction
While Evans holds that brilliant head to head against Khachanov, his performances in recent times might indicate he is still some away from his best and that could give the Russian a good chance to get himself a breakthrough win.
Khachanov v Evans Tips
