Arthur Fils v Nuno Borges Head to Head
There have been two previous matches between these two at this level and Fils leads 2-0. They came in 2024, in Auckland and Indian Wells.
Fils Looking for a Deep Run
Arthur Fils had a season to remember last year, winning a couple of titles in the process.
What that has meant is the 20-year-old Fils has broken into the top 20 of the ATP Rankings and will enter this tournament ranked at his career-best of 19th in the world.
That’s the good bit for Fils. Where he has floundered a little is with his results this year so far.
It’s not been all awful with Fils having made the third round at the Australian Open but that aside, he has featured in just two tournaments and made just the second round.
At the Hong Kong Open, he lost to Alexandre Muller and then fell at the same stage of the Rotterdam Open with this loss coming off Daniel Altmaier.
Fils will be desperate to get back to his title-winning ways but starts things off here with a rather challenging opener.

Borges in Fine Fettle
For starters, Nuno Borges has featured in more tournaments this year than his opponent.
Secondly, Borges has recorded more wins too. He made the third round at the Australian Open, much like Borges but before that he had also gone on to clinch the semifinal spot in Auckland before Zizou Bergs got the better of him.
More recently, Borges has made the second round at both, the Marseille Open and Qatar Open but at the former, Bergs got the better of him for the second time this season and then saw Andrey Rublev beating him at the latter.
While Borges has never done better than being ranked 30th in the world, he has shown this season what he’s capable of with some impressive wins. Fils could be a far more challenging task though.
Fils v Borges Prediction
Fils will be our pick here despite his inability to have reproduced his form from the previous season. Might see a third set but expect Fils to come back with a bang.
Fils v Borges Tips
- Fils to win: 4/6
