Rebecca Sramkova v Lulu Sun Head to Head
Sramkova and Sun have never faced off in a competitive match before this.
Sramkova at Career-Best Despite Tepid Start
Rebecca Sramkova will enter this competition ranked 40th in the world when the rankings are updated at the start of the week and that would be the first time in her career she would have broken into the top 40.
That comes on the back of a rather underwhelming season for Sramkova who had announced herself last year with a title win in Hua Hin. This year, however, she has played 11 matches and won just four.
Two of those victories came very recently in Doha where Sramkova shocked Mirra Andreeva after having defeated Anhelina Kalinina, to make it to the third round there.
Unfortunately for Sramkova, not only did she lose in straight sets to Elena Rybakina in that match, she also went on to crash out of the WTA Dubai in round one.

Sun Getting No Respite
Lulu Sun would look back at the 2024 season and reminisce. That’s because it was the best season of her career by a country mile and not only has she struggled to make it a repeat showing this season, she has floundered majorly.
How else can one explain her 1-7 win-loss record for the year?
Sun’s only win for the season came against Caroline Garcia – and we all know how much of a struggle things have been for her on court. Other than that, the Kiwi has gone down to players of almost all sorts of rankings.
At Auckland it was Rebecca Marino who took her out, Sofia Kenin defeated her in Hobart while Danka Kovinic’s only main draw win of the year has come against Sun as well – at the Australian Open.
More recently she has also lost to Paula Badosa, Liudmilla Samsonova and Leylah Fernandez and in her last five losses, Sun has won no set. She needs a big turnaround.
Sramkova v Sun Prediction
Sramkova will start a favourite here and unless Sun can dig really deep in this, we could end up seeing another straight-set loss for her.
Sramkova v Sun Tips
- Sramkova to win: 1/2
