Ugo Carabelli v Federico Coria Head to Head
Their only previous meeting at the highest level came at the 2023 US Open and Federico had won that qualifying round. On clay, at the lower level, Carabelli leads Coria 3-1.
Carabelli in Another Tough Win
Following on from quite a difficult three-set win in the first round over Nicolas Jarry, Ugo Carabelli looked to have found himself with his back to the wall against Thiago Monteiro as well in the second round.
Down a set, Carabelli had then missed out on two set-points at 5-4 in the second set which meant it went into a tie-breaker.
The good news for Carabelli was he didn’t give in to the disappointment and nor did he look exhausted from having played back to back matches that went over two and a half hours.
He won the tie-breaker and in the final set, broke Monteiro in the very first game to go on to clinch the match.
The question now is if he’s ready to be involved in another such longish encounter against a player who is showing signs of resurgence too.

Coria Edges Out Tabilo
In a second round contest that two hours and 40 minutes of court time, Federico Coria saved four set-points in the opening set to win in three.
It was that first set that proved to be the difference between the two players as they traded breaks of serves to take it into a tie-breaker.
There. Coria missed two set-points, saved one of his own, missed a third before Alejandro Tabilo squandered three more. Off the fourth one that Coria got, he finally converted it to bag the set 13-11 in the tie-breaker.
A break of serve in the second set was all that Tabilo needed to level things out before Coria shrugged off an early loss of serve to break his opponent twice to claim the match.
This was Coria’s first set of successive wins at this level this year.
Carabelli v Coria Prediction
This could well turn out to be a gritty battle between two players who can both go the distance. Three-setter expected here.
