Iva Jovic v Julia Grabher Head to Head
Jovic and Grabher have never faced off in a competitive match.
Teenager Jovic Hoping to Make Use of Wildcard
Iva Jovic had kick-started her career at this level last season and was also awarded a wildcard to feature in the US Open. In turn, she was youngest to feature in the edition and she went on to win her opener against Magda Linette.
Having started off the last season ranked 654th in the world, Jovic climbed up to 189th by the time the season had ended.
This year Jovic started things off at the Australian Open and doubled her Grand Slam win count when she crushed Nuria Parrizas Diaz in her opener, 6-2, 6-1. She lost to Elena Rybakina in the second round but she has followed that up with some excellent showings on the ITF circuit.
She made the semifinal at one (which wasn’t played then) and followed it up with a runner-up trophy in the very next week. The American can be expected to have a good chance here.

Grabher Struggling to Win
Julia Grabher suffered a wrist injury last year which had kept her out of tennis for six months. As a result her ranking has fallen drastically and she started the season ranked 470th in the world.
She might have broken back into the top 400 since then but Grabher has continued to struggle with winning matches.
After reaching the second round at the Auckland Open this year, Grabher has featured in six matches at different levels – qualifiers and ITF competitions included – and has won nothing.
Her latest loss came in Merida at the hands of Maya Joint after having lost in an ITF qualifier to Aliona Bolsova before that. Grabher will hope to reverse her poor form on her Indian Wells Open debut.
Jovic v Grabher Predictions
With Grabher’s struggles well-known, it’s hard to see her come away with a win – the younger legs of Jovic could run her opponent around and clinch this in the third set.
Jovic v Grabher Tips
- Jovic to win in three sets: 3/1
