What Has Medvedev Done So Far This Season?
It’s not been the best of seasons for the former US Open winner, Medvedev. The Russian kick-started the year with a second round loss at the hands of Learner Tien at the Australian Open and then lost in the second round in Rotterdam.
He did marginally better in Marseille, Doha and Dubai but defeats to Hamad Medjedovic, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Tallon Griekspoor in those competitions would have left him a touch nonplussed.
Medvedev did make it to the semifinals at the Indian Wells Masters in what was his best performance till then for 2025 before Jaume Munar sent him crashing out of Miami Open’s second round.
What Has Medvedev Done in His Career?
As mentioned earlier, Medvedev is one of those rare players outside of the Big Three who won a Grand Slam while they were still active. That came at the 2021 US Open and he followed that up with a finals appearance at the Australian Open in 2022.
All in all Medvedev has made it to the final at Melbourne Park on three occasions but lost every single time. And other than winning the title at the US Open Medvedev has been a losing finalist on two other occasions there.
His best performance at Wimbledon came in 2023 and 2024 when he made the semifinals while clay isn’t quite his favourite surface and the only time Medvedev entered the last eight stage was in 2021. He has won the Italian Open on clay, his best showing on that surface.
Medvedev has also won an ATP Finals in 2020 and was the runner-up the following year.
