What Does the Davis Cup 2025 Format & Draw Look Like?

The 2025 edition of the Davis Cup will see a change to it. It will begin with the Davis Cup Qualifiers First Round which will be played in the last week of January 2025.

26 countries will take part in this competition, playing in a home-or-away format from where the 13 winners will move into the Davis Cup Qualifiers Second Round.

These 13 teams will be joined by Netherlands in this Second Round, and again, there will be a home-or-away format used to decide the winners of those ties.

The seven winners will then move into the Davis Cup Final 8 where they will be joined by the host nation Italy where the quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Davis Cup?

For the second season in running Italy clinched the Davis Cup title by defeating Netherlands in the final. They won 2-0 at Martin Carpena Arena in Málaga, Spain to claim the tournament.

They had earlier overcome Argentina 2-1 in the quarterfinals and then defeated previous runner-up Australia 2-0 in the semifinals.

Australia bumped USA out in the quarterfinals, while Netherlands overcame Spain at the same stage of the competition before knocking Germany out in the semifinals.

Great Britain had finished third in their group during the group stages of the competition to get knocked out by Canada and Argentina.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Davis Cup?

Italy overcame Australia in the final of the Davis Cup knock-out round by winning both their singles matches to clinch the competition.

Matteo Arnaldi edged out Alexei Popyrin in the first match of the final while Jannik Sinner eased past Alex de Minaur in the second to help them grab their first Davis Cup win since 1976.

Earlier, Italy had made it to the final with 2-1 victories over Netherlands and Serbia in the quarterfinals and semifinals, which included Sinner defeating Novak Djokovic as well. Australia overcame Czech Republic in their quarterfinal before crushing Finland in the semifinals.
