Italian Open Betting Tips, Picks, Predictions & Odds for the 2025 Edition

Get all the free ATP & WTA Italian Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament which will kick-start in May this year.

The Italian Open is one of the few ATP and WTA 1000 tournaments that’s played simultaneously for both, men and women and is played as a part of the lead-up to the French Open.

Hosted on clay, the Italian Open has been around since 1930 when it was first played in Milan. Interestingly enough, even way back then, the tournament featured both men and women.

The switch from Milan to Rome happened in 1935 and while the tournament wasn’t played for 14 years from 1936, it was resumed following the second World War in 1950.

Till the 2021 edition, the Italian Open was held over a period of one week but this has now changed and it’s become one of those non-Grand Slam competitions to be hosted over two weeks. Perugia and Taranto have been two of the other venues used before as well.

Daily Italian Open 2025 Predictions

These will be updated during the tournament in 2025. For now, here’re our daily predictions from the 2024 Italian Open.

Italian Open 2025 Tournament Preview

We are still some way away from the start of the 2025 edition of the Italian Open. Below is the preview to the 2024 Rome Open.

The news from the men’s draw is that Carlos Alcaraz has opted to withdraw from the competition because of fitness concerns. These were the same fitness concerns that caused him to struggle during his loss to Andrey Rublev at the Madrid Masters.

Adding to this news is that Jannik Sinner, who was another injury casualty at the Madrid Masters last week, has also opted out of the competition. This leaves Novak Djokovic as an overwhelming favourite to win this tournament after having had an indifferent start to the season so far.

In the women’s draw, Elena Rybakina will start off as the defending champion but will be wondering what went wrong for her against Aryna Sabalenka in the Madrid Open semifinals where she had the chance to send her opponent packing.

All eyes will obviously be on Iga Swiatek though given her run to the final of the Madrid and her overall record on clay. Players like Sabalenka and Rybakina are catching up though.

Italian Open 2025 Tournament Predictions

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Italian Open?

It was Alexander Zverev who defied the odds to clinch the men’s singles title while Iga Swiatek continued to become a bigger force on clay as she grabbed the women’s singles tournament win.

Zverev faced a surprising opponent in the form of Nicolas Jarry in the final, winning 6-4, 7-5 against the Chilean to win the tournament for the first time in his career. This was after Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner had pulled out of the tournament because of fitness concerns and Novak Djokovic fell in the third round to Alejandro Tabilo.

Jarry had earlier beaten another pre-tournament favourite Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.

Swiatek, who had come into this tournament as the winner of the Madrid Open from the previous week, crushed the second seeded Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 6-3 to lift the women’s crown.

It was just the third time in the history of women’s tennis that a player had won both, the Madrid Open and Italian Open. Swiatek joined an elite list of players in the form of Serena Williams and Dinara Safina.

The Polish player did not lose a single set in the entire tournament and the most number of games she lost in a match was eight, to Angelique Kerber in the fourth round.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Italian Open?

Daniil Medvedev came away a surprise winner of the men’s singles draw at the Italian Open in 2023.

Surprise why you might ask? That’s because of his clear aversion to and a poor record on clay. He overcame Holger Rune in the final, winning 7-5, 7-5 to lift the trophy.

What definitely helped Medvedev was the quarterfinal ouster of Novak Djokovic, who fell in three sets to Rune and a straight-set loss for Carlos Alcaraz in the third round at the hands of Fabian Marozsan.

Medvedev did have to overcome Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the lead-up to the Rune meeting.

The women’s title was won by Elena Rybakina, who defeated Anhelina Kalinina in the final. Rybakina was up a set and led 1-0 in the second when Kalinina retired from the encounter because of fitness concerns.

Interestingly, this was the third win for Rybakina because of injuries to the opponent with Anna Kalinskaya and Iga Swiatek also retiring from their respective matches against the Kazakh.
