Also known as the Copa Colsanitas, this WTA 250 competition has been a part of the tour each year since 1998.
Having been played as a Tier IV tournament in the first three seasons, it was included in the Tier III circuit between 2001 and 2008 before making its way to the International level.
After the WTA shifted its tack, the Bogota Open was also included in the WTA 250 series of tournaments. It has been played each year since its inception with the exception of 2020 when it wasn’t held because of the pandemic.
It has a 32-woman strong draw and is played in the first week of April.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Bogota Open?
Camila Osorio, who had won the 2021 edition of this tournament, overcame the two-time defending champion Tatjana Maria in the quarterfinal before beating Sara Errani and Marie Bouzkova in the next two rounds to win this title.
Osorio dropped just one set in the entire tournament, which came in the Maria match, before registering a resounding victory in the tournament.
What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Bogota Open?
For the second year running, it was Germany’s Tatjana Maria who grabbed the Bogota Open title as she overcame Peyton Stearns of the USA in a three-set final.
Maria, who had needed three sets to get past Laura Pigossi in the 2022 final, clinched her second Bogota Open victory when she defeated Stearns 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in the title-decider.
Seeded second in the competition, Maria did not face too many issues in her first four rounds, meeting two qualifiers and a protected-ranking player in those matches. It was only in the final the upcoming star Stearns made life difficult for her.
Stearns had earlier overcome a first set deficit against the fourth seeded Kamilla Rakhimova to win her semifinal.
