WTA China Open Betting Tips, Picks, Predictions & Odds for the 2025 Edition

Get all the free WTA China Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament, a women’s hardcourt competition played in the Asian tennis swing.

Like some of the other WTA 1000 competitions on the women’s tennis tour, the China Open is also played over two weeks with a draw that will see 96 players feature in the main draw.

This will be the first edition of the women’s China Open with such a schedule and number having earlier been a 60-player draw in 2023.

The WTA China Open wasn’t held between 2020 and 2022 because of pandemic-related reasons but also because of the shock disappearance of a Chinese tennis player, Peng Shuai.

Having first been played in 2004, the women’s China Open has seen the likes of Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, Garbine Muguruza and Cori Gauff win the title here. All of these players have been former Grand Slam winners.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA China Open?

In the absence of the defending champion Iga Swiatek and with Aryna Sabalenka getting knocked out by Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals, it was left to Cori Gauff to shrug off some poor form and clinch the title.

Gauff overcame Muchova 6-1, 6-3 to grab her second title of the season following her WTA Auckland Open triumph earlier in the year. The 2023 US Open winner had her difficulties throughout the tournament, struggling to scrape through against the injured Naomi Osaka in the fourth round, and needing three sets against Yuliia Starodubtseva and Paula Badosa to make it to the final.

Muchova, on the other hand, went past pre-tournament favourite Sabalenka, before surprising Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA China Open?

Having gone into the tournament as the second seed Iga Swiatek forged ahead of the pack and clinched the tournament with a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 win over Liudmilla Samsonova in the final.

Swiatek’s only challenge came in the form of Caroline Garcia who won the first set of their quarterfinal in a tie-breaker and then pushed the second set into a tie-breaker as well before falling apart in the third.

Other than that, Swiatek dropped a mere 24 games across five matches which included a 6-2, 6-3 drubbing of Cori Gauff in the semifinal.

Top seeded Aryna Sabalenka was sent packing in the quarterfinal by Elena Rybakina before losing to Samsonova in the semis.
