Get all the free WTA Guadalajara Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament, a women’s hardcourt competition played in the week immediately after the US Open.
The Guadalajara Open is also called Guadalajara Open Akron presented by Santander as a result of the advertisers was a WTA 1000 tournament held in Zapopan in Mexico as a replacement for the events in China.
However, once China came back to taking its appointed place in the WTA calendar, the Guadalajara Open has been demoted to a WTA 500 series from the 2025 edition. The Wuhan Open in China will now be the WTA 1000 competition as a replacement.
It will be a 56-woman strong event though with the top eight players getting a bye into the second round.
WTA Guadalajara Open 2025 Tournament Preview
We will update this section with the preview to the 2025 Guadalajara Open in times closer to the start of the tournament. This is the preview to the 2024 edition below.
Guadalajara Open was a WTA 1000 competition till last year but will be played as a WTA 500 event this season which means some of the top players will be missing from action in 2024. What might not have helped is the competition is now being played immediately after the US Open.
The likes Emma Navarro, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Paula Badosa and Maria Sakkari have all opted out of this year’s Guadalajara Open as a result.
This allows someone like Jelena Ostapenko or Danielle Collins to go deep in the tournament, although with Collins might not need any second invites anyway given that this is her last few months on tour before she retires.
Winner of the Adelaide International and Linz Open, Ostapenko will hope she can turn things around after an under-par US Open but her draw seems to be a tad tough with Tatjana Maria or Magdalena Frech next and a possibility of Marie Bouzkova or Caroline Garcia in the semifinal.
In the bottom half, Collins should make it through her earlier opponents but then might face either Victoria Azarenka or Kamila Rakhimova, both of whom can mount a sufficient challenge for them. Rakhimova won the WTA 125 title in Guadalajara last week which should give her some momentum coming into this one.
Veronika Kudermetova has had an underwhelming season and it would be interesting to see if she can turn things around here by going deep.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the WTA Guadalajara Open?
With majority of the top players withdrawing from the Guadalajara Open 2024 after it was downgraded to a WTA 500 event, it turned out to be the fifth seeded Magdalena Frech‘s turn to win her maiden career title at this level. Frech overcame the other surprise finalist, Aussie qualifier Olivia Gadecki 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the final.
Frech, who had made it to one previous final – the Prague Open in 2024 itself where she lost to fellow Polish player Magda Linette – dropped just one set in the entire tournament. After having eased past Emina Bektas in the opener, she was taken to three sets by Ashlyn Krueger before defeating the wildcard entrant Marina Stakusic in the last eight stage.
She then stunned Caroline Garcia in the semifinal before going past Gadecki in the final.
Top-seeded Jelena Ostapenko had a first round bye but fell in the second round to Stakusic while Gadecki stunned the second seeded Danielle Collins at the same stage of the tournament.
What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Guadalajara Open?
Greek number one Maria Sakkari, who had finished runner-up in the 2022 edition of this competition, went one better in 2023 when she lifted the trophy after beating Caroline Dolehide in the final.
Sakkari won the final 7-5, 6-3 after having not conceded a single set in the entire tournament even before that. Incidentally, it was a monkey off her back as Sakkari had finished runner-up on six previous occasions after getting to the final.
She had earlier overcome Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinal while Dolehide crushed fellow American Sofia Kenin in the other semis.
