WTA Hamburg European Open Betting Tips, Picks, Predictions & Odds for the 2024 Edition

Get all the free WTA Hamburg European betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2024 edition of the tournament, a women’s clay court competition played as one of the preparatory tournaments for this year’s Olympics.

A clay court tournament played on both, the men’s and women’s circuit, the Hamburg Open is typically featured in July each year on the WTA Tour. This time around it will be hosted as a part of the tune-up tournaments for the Olympics which will be held on clay too.

While the men’s tournament kick-started in the 19th century, the WTA tournament in Hamburg began in 1982. It wasn’t held between 1984 and 1986 and on its return in 1987 it saw Steffi Graf win the singles title a whopping six times in a row.

The WTA Hamburg Open was discontinued from 2003 onward before resuming in 2021.

Incidentally, one of the most controversial incidents in the history of tennis came here when former world number one Monica Seles was stabbed a spectator in the 1993 edition of the tournament here. Seles would survive the attack and return to play tennis again.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Hamburg European Open?

In a match-up between surprise finalists, Arantxa Rus was a straight-set winner over Noma Noha Akugue to win the title. She clinched it 6-0, 7-6 (3).

By winning the final, Rus had joined the elite list of women’s tennis players in history to have won at least one WTA Tour title in her career. And by doing so at the age of 32, she had become the oldest maiden WTA champion since 1983.

Incidentally her opponent in the final, Noha Akuge, was also making her WTA main draw singles debut.

Other than Rus and defending champion Bernard Pera, none of the other seeded players got past the second round this year.
