The Hua Hin Open is a Thailand-based WTA tournament played as a part of the WTA 250 series of competitions.
Interestingly, it was held twice in the 2024 season – first in the month of January and then again in September to mark a rare one when a city has hosted a tournament twice in the same season.
First played in 2019 in the scenic town of Hua Hin, it was then held again in 2020 before the pandemic robbed the city of its hosting rights in 2021 and 2022. It returned the following year and was played yet again in 2024.
Earlier, there was a WTA Challenger event held in this city too for a period of three years from 2015.

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the WTA Hua Hin Open?
There were two editions of Hua Hin Open that were played in 2024.
In the first, which was held at the end of the Australian Open that year, unseeded Diana Shnaider showed what she is capable of as she raced to her maiden title win at this level when she defeated the second seeded Zhu Lin in the final. She won 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to capture the victory.
Shainder had begun with a stunning performance as she surprised the top seeded Magda Linette in the first round before getting the better of the injured Paula Badosa in the second round.
The Russian then went on to rout Dalma Galfi before getting past the third seeded Xinyu Wang, making it one of those rare occasions on the tour when a player has beaten the top three seeds in the tournament to grab the title.
It was played again in September and this around, it was Rebecca Sramkova who proved to be a surprise winner of the competition.
Also unseeded in the tournament, Sramkova overcame Laura Siegemund 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the title, played just one seeded player in the entire tournament – that was Magda Linette in the second round.
Siegemund also faced just one seeded player and in the second round too, edging out Xiyu Wang.
