Daily tennis betting tips and predictions

Get all the free WTA Monterrey Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2024 edition of the tournament, a women’s hardcourt competition played in the week leading up to the US Open.

Played as a WTA 250 competition till last season, this year will be the first time the Monterrey Open will be held as a WTA 500 tournament.

The WTA Monterrey Open, which was first played in 2009, has been hosted every year after that. The competition shifted venues from the Sierra Madre Tennis Club to Club Sonoma in Monterrey in 2014 where it’s hosted since.

Between 2009 and 2012, the tournament was held in the months of February-March. In 2013, it shifted to the first week of April before moving back to the first week of March in 2015.

Again in 2018, the Monterrey Open was played in April, while in the pandemic year of 2020, it was one of the last tournaments that was played before tennis was halted world over.

The next three years saw the tournament played in either February or March making the 2024 edition the first one in which it will be played in August just before the US Open.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Monterrey Open?

In a hard-fought final, the third seeded Donna Vekic edged past the top seeded Caroline Garcia in a three-setter to claim the title.

Vekic won 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 against the tournament favourite Garcia to grab her fourth career title at this level.

Garcia, who had dropped just 23 games in the previous four matches before the final, was jolted in the title-decider by a defiant Vekic, who had had trouble making the final. While the Frenchwoman fought back in the second set, Vekic managed to keep her cool in a fighting final set to win the tournament.

Earlier, second seeded Marie Bouzkova was ousted in the very first round, while Garcia beat the fourth seeded Elise Mertens in the semifinals.
