What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Ningbo Open?
Ons Jabeur, who took a wildcard to enter this tournament and was then named the top seed in the competition, went on to win the first title on the return of Ningbo Open.
In winning the title, Jabeur did face some resistance at various points in the competition but was never in a real spot of bother. She was stretched to three sets by Vera Zvonareva in the quarterfinals and Nadia Podoroska but came through with each in the final set before routing Diana Shnaider in the final.
The top seeded Jabeur won 6-2, 6-1 against Shnaider, which rather interestingly meant that the Tunisian had won her maiden title on a hardcourt surface.
