What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Palermo Ladies Open?
Qinwen Zheng clinched a three-set victory in the final of the Palermo Open in 2023 over the fifth seeded Jasmine Paolini to lift the title. She won 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 to win her maiden WTA tournament.
Zheng, who had started off as the second seed, began well in her campaign as she whipped Sara Errani 6-0, 6-0 in the first round but things became a lot tougher for her from that point on.
She was stretched to three sets by Diane Parry in the second round, defeated Emma Navarro 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before needing three sets against both, Mayar Sherif and Paolini.
