WTA Wuhan Open 2024 Details

Venue
The Wuhan Open is played at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center in Wuhan in the Chinese province of Hubei. The centre court has a capacity of 15,000 and there is a Court 1 and six other smaller courts to go with that. Court 1 allows a seating for a further 5000 fans.
Schedule
This year’s Wuhan Open will be played directly after the end of the China Open and it’s 56-woman strong draw will begin with its main draw matches on Sunday, October 6. The tournament will go on till Sunday, October 13.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the WTA Wuhan Open?
The Wuhan Open wasn’t played in 2023 having last been held in 2019 and it was Aryna Sabalenka who successfully defended her title at that tournament.
Entering the 2019 Wuhan Open as the ninth seed, Sabalenka over Alison Riske in three-setter in the final to lift the trophy. This was after Riske had toppled the fifth seeded Petra Kvitova and Sabalenka shocked the top seeded Ash Barty in their respective semifinals.
This year’s Wuhan Open also saw the future Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina get a wildcard which helped her make the quarterfinals where Sabalenka ended her run.
