Jessica Pegula v Magda Linette Head to Head
There have been two meetings between these two players before this and Pegula leads 2-0. These wins came at Miami in 2023 and Charleston in 2024.
Pegula Coming off a Title Win in Austin
Jessica Pegula had made a decent start to the season when she made the final at the Adelaide International before losing to Madison Keys. Post that performance, however, Pegula’s form looked to have tapered off a little.
She was sent packing in the third round of the Australian Open, fell in the quarterfinals in Doha and won just one round in Dubai before losing to Linda Noskova.
Which is why what Pegula managed in Austin last week was much needed as a confidence-booster.
It wasn’t like Pegula faced any of the top-ranked opponents but she did have a tricky draw in which she defeated Anna Blinkova, Ajla Tomljanovic and McCartney Kessler to clinch the title.
Can she go deep in this tournament where she has never made past the quarterfinal stage.

Linette Surprise for Stearns
On paper there shouldn’t have been anything to choose between Magda Linette and Peyton Stearns if one were to look at their rankings.
Linette’s form in 2025, however, has been anything but her best and that had meant that Stearns was 3/5 to win this.
As it turned out, Linette chose the right time to find herself some fight as she came through in two hours and 10 minutes to clinch a place in the second round.
The Polish player won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in a match that saw her lose her serve three times – once in each set. In fact at one stage in the decider, Stearns led 2-0 before Linette came back to clinch the win.
This result made it 7-7 on win-loss for Linette but to register her eighth win, she will need to do a lot better than she has all season.
Pegula v Linette Predictions
Pegula’s overall form and more recent results make her a heavy favourite and a straight-set result in her favour looks par for the course.
