Jack Draper v Jenson Brooksby Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Draper has won them both. Both those came in 2022, at Eastbourne and Antwerp.
Draper Too Good for Fonseca
Joao Fonseca has been tipped to be the next big thing and he was also coming off a title win at the Argentina Open. With the courts here expected to play slower than the usual hardcourt surfaces, Fonseca might have even fancied his chances against the injury-prone Jack Draper.
Draper, when fit, looks to have become a different kettle of fish.
The Brit had played nine matches this season and won seven of them coming into this competition. He was also entering this tournament on the back of a finals place in Doha two weeks ago.
And Draper showed that class rather well.
In a match that went on for an hour and 16 minutes, Draper completed a 6-4, 6-0 victory to reach the third round – bettering his previous season’s first round appearance and getting a win away from his fourth round showing in 2023.

Brooksby in a Stunning Over Auger-Aliassime
Felix Auger-Aliassime is no ordinary world number 18. He is one with two title wins this season and a third appearance in the final of a tournament in Dubai.
Which is why it was no surprise that he was a 3/10 favourite coming into this second round encounter against Jenson Brooksby.
Brooksby did not allow Auger-Aliassime to settle down and won 6-4, 6-2 in less than an hour and a half.
This was after Brooksby had come back from being a set down in his opening round against Benjamin Bonzi to grab a victory.
Interestingly, Brooksby had played four tournaments previously this season, including two Challenger events and in not one did he win successive matches.

Draper should prove to be too good in this one given how he performed against a much-touted Fonseca and we think he should win this. Brooksby might still give it his best shot though.
