Joao Fonseca v Laslo Djere Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between Fonseca and Djere.
Fonseca in Another Comeback Win over Navone
After having come back from being a set down to defeat Federico Coria, Joao Fonseca repeated the same dose to Mariano Navone in their quarterfinals.
In a match that lasted a few minutes short of three hours, Fonseca shrugged off two breaks of serves in the first set, another two in the second and two match-points in the third to win 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
If the Coria win and the one against Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open had brought Fonseca’s grit to the fore, this one exemplified his never-say-die spirit to the holt.
And as an 18-year-old, while his game might not be fully developed, Fonseca’s ability to remain in the match till it’s actually over could prove to be an invaluable tool in times to come.
Including in this semifinal against Djere.

Djere Ends Seyboth Wild’s Run
Thiago Seyboth Wild had looked good for the time he was there in the tournament but Laslo Djere ended his campaign in straight sets.
Djere defeated Seyboth Wild 7-6 (3), 6-3 in an hour and 40 minutes having earlier made the main draw with qualifier wins.
Neither player was able to break the other in the opening set but in the tie-breaker that followed, Djere raced to a 5-1 lead before closing it out to 3.
The Serb then had some trouble on his serve in the first game but once he had held on, he broke Seyboth Wild to go 3-1 up, saved two more break-points in the sixth before finishing it off.
This will be Djere’s first semifinal appearance at this tournament and the first overall on clay since he made the last four at Kitzbuhel in 2023.
Fonseca v Djere Prediction
Fonseca is in red-hot form and his younger legs should help him navigate through this encounter even if he faces another three-setter.
