Francisco Cerundolo v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both have won one apiece.
The first came at the 2022 Queen’s and Cerundolo had grabbed the victory in two before Martinez levelled up with a win at the 2024 Hamburg Open.
Cerundolo Stuns Zverev
Alexander Zverev was a 7/20 favourite going into his quarterfinal against Francisco Cerundolo and when he grabbed the first set after breaking him in the sixth game of the match, it looked like things were going to plan.
The turnaround for Cerundolo when he fell a break down in the second set too, falling 1-2 behind his opponent.
Cerundolo broke right back and then made it two in two as Zverev failed to latch on to his advantage. The Argentine soon served it out to clinch the second set before running through the decider with a couple more breaks of serve.
Two hours and 20 minutes into the match, Cerundolo had won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to reach his first ATP semifinal since Almaty last year and the first on clay since Umag in 2024.
Can he now repeat what he did in Umag where he went on to make the final and win the title?

Martinez Gets Musetti Walkover
Pedro Martinez wasn’t quite the favourite going into his quarterfinal against Lorenzo Musetti but it was expected to be a close battle. Unfortunately for Musetti and tennis fans, the match never took place.
Musetti looked to have suffered a soleus muscular injury which forced him to give his opponent a walkover.
In the previous round, Martinez had been a part of an emotional match against Diego Schwartzman whom he defeat 6-2, 6-2, in turn ending his career.
With a quarterfinal exit at the Rotterdam Open last week, Martinez would be glad to have gone one better this time albeit thanks to an opponent walkover.
This will also be his first semifinal appearance since he got that far in Hamburg last year.
Cerundolo v Martinez Prediction
Cerundolo holds the edge but we think a well-rested Martinez could prove to be more than a handful to Cerundolo too – like we expected him to be against Musetti. Three sets can be expected.
Cerundolo v Martinez Tips
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
