Jessica Pegula v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head
Their only match at this level came at the 2024 United Cup where Pegula had won in straight sets.
Pegula Blanks Blinkova
Jessica Pegula moved one step closer to winning her first title of the season when she grabbed a straight-set win over Anna Blinkova in their quarterfinals.
In a match that did not light the stands on fire by any stretch, Pegula was on court for less than hour in her 6-2, 6-2 win.
She was two breaks up by the fifth game of the match and while the American dropped her serve once after that, she quickly broke right back. In the second, she repeated the dose with two breaks of serves in the first five games and completed the last rites after that.
This follows only other tournament this year in which Pegula has won three successive matches – that came in Adelaide in the second week of the season where Pegula lost to Madison Keys in the final.
Here she will face the former world number 32 for a place in the title-deciding round.

Tomljanovic Nearly Shocked by Shibahara
It’s been a tournament to remember for Ena Shibahara and she almost made it to the semifinal with a terrific performance against Ajla Tomljanovic.
Tomljanovic’s experience and her fighting spirit allowed her to hold her own but not before she had frittered away seven match-points and saved one in the final set.
Having made the perfect start with a break of serve in the very first game, Tomljanovic was forced to grind her way through to winning the first set with a decisive break in the 11th game.
Shibahara ran away with the second set with a late break to level things out but when Tomljanovic took a 3-0 lead in the third, the writing seemed to be on the wall.
Except that it wasn’t when Shibahara fought through a plethora of match-points against her including a few in the tie-breaker. It was an 18-point tie-breaker that Tomljanovic finally won to make it through.
Pegula v Tomljanovic Prediction
Pegula will be a heavy favourite here with the American having not had too much to worry about throughout this tournament. Backing her to win this in straight sets.
Pegula v Tomljanovic Tips
- Pegula to win in straight sets: 1/2
