Munich Open betting tips and predictions

Get all the free ATP Munich Open betting tips, predictions and picks along with their latest odds for the 2025 edition of the tournament which will be held in the third week of April this year.

A tournament that was first held in 1899, Munich Open belongs to that elite list of tennis competitions which began in the 19th century.

Over the years, the competition wasn’t played in few of the years – like during the first and second World Wars – and the odd year like 1952, 1972 and 2020 – but otherwise has been a regular feature on the tennis calendar.

Also called the BMW Open for sponsorship reasons since 1990, it was first played on grass but in more recent times that’s changed to clay.

The Munich Open was played as an ATP 250 competition till the 2024 season before getting the stature of an ATP 500 tournament from the 2025 edition onward.

Munich Open 2025 Tournament Preview

We are still some way away from the 2025 Munich Open. Here’s how we thought the 2024 edition of this tournament looked in its leadup.

The reason why Holger Rune starts off a favourite in this year’s Munich Open (a marginal one alright as can be seen by the pre-tournament title odds), is his performance in this tournament over the last two seasons. He enters the 2024 Munich Open as a two-time defending champion.

And both times, he had beaten Botic van de Zandschulp in the final, a player who finds himself in the same half as him this year.

The other favourite in this competition is Alexander Zverev, who is also a former two-time champion. Zverev has a fairly straightforward draw unless a potential quarterfinalist in the form of Cristian Garin surprises him.

If that doesn’t happen, Zverev should be able to overcome Taylor Fritz in the semifinals – that’s if Fritz does make it there – to set up a potentially mouth-watering match-up with Rune in the final.

  • Van de Zandschulp, Garin: 25/1

What Happened in the 2024 Edition of the Munich Open?

In what turned out to be a shock overall result, Jan-Lennard Struff won his first ever ATP title when he lifted the trophy at the Munich Open in 2024. Struff dispatched Taylor Fritz in the final, winning 7-5, 6-3 to claim the win.

What made this a special win was the fact that Struff was nearly 34 years old when he won the title, the third oldest-ever to win his maiden tournament on this circuit.

Struff, who was the fourth seed coming into the tournament and 18/1 odds to win the competition at the start, overcame Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round following a first round bye. He then sent Felix Auger-Aliassime out packing before stunning the two-time defending champion Holger Rune in the semifinal.

Top seeded Alexander Zverev was ousted in the quarterfinals by Cristian Garin.

What Happened in the 2023 Edition of the Munich Open?

Defending champion and top seeded Holger Rune looked like he was in a strife in the final when he was pushed into the third tie-breaker by the fourth seed Botic van de Zandschulp but in the end he came through to make it two titles in a row at the Munich Open.

Rune won 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (3) in that final.

Earlier, after an opening round bye, Rune had crushed Yannick Hanfmann, Cristian Garin and Christopher O’Connell in straight sets apiece to make it to the title-deciding round.

Second seeded Taylor Fritz made the semifinal but fell to van de Zandschulp while O’Connell stunned the third seeded Alexander Zverev in the second round.
