Musetti in a Straight-Set Win over Shapovalov
It had come as a surprise to use to see Denis Shapovalov start as a favourite against Lorenzo Musetti when the two met in the second round. Which is why at 1/1 odds, we thought Musetti was a tempting option to go past his erratic Canadian opponent.
As it turned out, Musetti needed just three sets to complete a second round victory over Shapovalov and move into the third round for the very first time in his career at this competition.
Shapovalov sure tried to give it all as he took both the first two sets into a tie-breaker but once his Italian opponent had found his way through, there was no looking back.
Musetti won in two hours and 40 minutes following his four-set victory over Matteo Arnaldi in round one.
It would also come as a bit of a relief for Musetti who had fallen in his very second match at the Hong Kong Open, losing to Jaume Munar.
Shelton Thwarts a Fighting Carreno-Busta
Following his opening defeat at the Auckland Open, Ben Shelton looked to have kept his head down and tried to work his way back to some winning form. And he has been largely successful, in turn levelling his performance at the Australian Open from the previous season.
Shelton was tested briefly during his second round win against Pablo Carreno-Busta but that was to be expected and he came through that challenge with flying colours.
He was on court for the same time that Musetti needed to win his second round match despite losing the third set in a tie-breaker to his Spanish opponent,
This sets up a delicious third round match for Shelton who will be baying for revenge following losses in each of his first two matches against Musetti.

Shelton has been deemed to be a 4/6 favourite here but we think it could be a lot closer than that, especially given the psychological advantage that Musetti has from having beaten the American twice before. That edge makes those 5/4 winning odds for the Italian a tempting go-to.
