Tsitsipas Finally Gets His Season Going
Stefanos Tsitsipas had had such a woeful start to the 2025 season that he slipped out of the top 10 on the ATP Rankings chart.
The Greek number one looked to have turned things around in Dubai two weeks ago when he went on to overcome Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-3 in the final. It was his first title since his Monte-Carlo Masters victory last year and first ever ATP 500 title in 12 attempts.
What needs to be seen is if this title win transforms Tsitsipas’ results elsewhere too. He had entered that tournament with a 3-4 record for the season and has overall showed a bit of a decline since being ranked third in the world in early 2023.
Tsitsipas had an opening round bye here like all other seeded players.

Seyboth Wild Stuns Muller
Thiago Seyboth Wild is well-known on the clay court surfaces of South America and has performed well on his day.
In hardcourt competitions, however, Seyboth Wild has typically found life difficult.
Which is why he was a 13/10 underdog going into his opener here against Alexandre Muller. What would have helped Seyboth Wild a tad was the fact that he was returning to a tournament in which he had made the third round last season.
And while the Brazilian had won just two of his previous eight matches this season, he put up an excellent show of grit and determination to clinch his second round spot after a near-three-hour encounter.
Seyboth Wild saved two match-points and squandered one of his own to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6).
The quality of challenge will rise for Seyboth Wild now but he will also enter the match knowing his opponent has had his own set of worries recently.
