Navarro Coming off Merida Title Win
A quarterfinalist at the Indian Wells Open last year, Emma Navarro will be geared to defend all those points as she enters this tournament on the back of some excellent tennis.
Navarro is coming off a solid performance in Merida last week where she went on to win the title with just 15 games lost in the entire tournament. That took her to her career-best ranking of eighth in the world.

Cirstea Sends Joint on Her Way
Sorana Cirstea was woefully out of touch when she took to court at the start of this season.
She had failed to qualify for the Adelaide International, lost in the first round at the Australian Open and won just one round in the following two competitions.
Things turned around for Cirstea in Dubai where she reached the quarterfinals at the expense of Daria Kasatkina and Navarro and she repeated that in Austin as well with a win over Diana Shnaider.
And in the first round here, while she was up against the in-form Maya Joint, Cirstea had no trouble getting the better of her, beating her 6-2, 7-5.
Cirstea now has a chance to repeat her win over Navarro in Dubai but the second time is always more difficult when it comes to shock wins.
