Amanda Anisimova v Belinda Bencic Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings, all of which came between 2019 and 2022 and Anisimova leads 2-1. She won at the 2022 Australian Open and Italian Open after Bencic had defeated her in Mallorca in 2019.
Anisimova Hoping to Emulate Doha Showing
Amanda Anisimova has won three titles in her career, in 2019, 2022 and then this year three weeks ago in Doha.
This Doha triumph has been the biggest of her career with Anisimova having never won a WTA 1000 tournament before this.
What also made that victory quite special was the fact that she overcame some of the best players around – from Victoria Azarenka in the first round to Paula Badosa, Leylah Fernadez, Marta Kostyuk, Ekaterina Alexandrova and then finally Jelena Ostapenko in the title-decider.
She was then beaten in the very first round in Dubai but that was to be expected given the scheduling – she had played a week long competition in Doha that finished on Saturday and was playing her opener in Dubai on Monday.
The interesting bit here is that despite being ranked 18th – her career-best ranking at that too – and getting a first round bye, she will be forced to play Belinda Bencic in the second round. Bencic is one of the best players among those unseeded in the tournament, probably one of the best if one includes the seeded ones too!

Bencic Routs Maria
If anyone doubted Belinda Bencic’s form despite the kind of season she has had so far, she delivered the kind of tennis and result in her opener here that would have shut those experts up.
In a match that went on for just about an hour, Bencic carved out a 6-1, 6-1 win over Tatjana Maria to seal her berth in the second round.
Bencic did not face a single break-points as she clinched 20 of her 24 first serve points, in turn breaking her opponent five times.
This follows a title win for Bencic at the Abu Dhabi Open after having also made it to the fourth round at the Australian Open. Bencic, who had begun the season after returning from her maternity break ranked 489th in the world, has climbed up 430 places and could be looking to break into the top 30 if she can go deep here.
She will have a big challenge here as she takes on an in-form Anisimova.
Anisimova v Bencic Predictions
Bencic starts off a 4/6 favourite and we will need to go with that given the manner in which she has held on to every aspect of her game from before she had gone on her maternity break. Anisimova might offer some fight but Bencic to win.
Anisimova v Bencic Tips
