Magdalena Frech v Lucia Bronzetti Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Bronzetti has won them both – including one last year at this very competition and at the Birmingham International in 2024.
Frech Struggling in 2025
Having begun the 2024 season ranked outside the top 70, Magdalena Frech broke into the top 25 by the end of the season thanks to a brilliant set of results.
And having hit a career-best ranking of 22nd, Frech looked to be on her way to breaking into the top 20.
Unfortunately for Frech, things have gone a tad awry for her since then.
She has featured in seven tournaments this season and won just three matches. Two of them came at the Australian Open, and one other victory came against Beatriz Haddad Maia.
What Frech could find herself a tad worried is her defeats have come at the hands of Suzan Lamens, Linda Noskova, Elina Avanesyan and fellow Polish player and out of form, Magda Linette.
Frech had been bumped out of the competition in the first round of this competition last year which means she has already done better than that with her first round bye here.

Bronzetti Goes Past Kalinina
Lucia Bronzetti did not have a lot of problems going past Anhelina Kalinina in the first round here, beating her in straight sets to seal off her second round spot.
In a match lasting two hours and 12 minutes, Bronzetti won 6-4, 7-5 despite losing her serve three times in the encounter.
The two players traded fifth breaks of serve between the sixth and 10th game of the opening set, with the fifth one earning Bronzetti the set. In the second, Kalinina had a chance to serve it out at 5-4 but lost three games in a row and with it, the match.
Rather interestingly, Bronzetti had beaten Frech and Kalinina in last year’s Indian Wells Open to make the third round.
