Aryna Sabalenka v Lucia Bronzetti Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two and Sabalenka has won both. These came in Brisbane and US Open last year.
Sabalenka Goes Past Kessler
Aryna Sabaleka began her Indian Wells Open campaign with a hard-fought but straight-set win in the second round over McCartney Kessler.
In a match lasting an hour and 33 minutes, Sabalenka overcame Kessler 7-6 (4), 6-3 to enter the third round, much like she had in 2024.
The Belarusian did not face a single break-point and while she missed the only break-point she herself had in the opening set, she won the ensuing tie-breaker. The second set was a lot easier with two breaks of serves coming off two break-points.
This follows a final appearance at the Australian Open for Sabalenka but just one win from her following three matches which were held at Doha and Dubai.

Bronzetti Continues Form with Frech Victory
Lucia Bronzetti had entered this tournament on the back of second round appearance at the Australian Open and a final place at the Cluj-Napoca Open but other than that she had also entered four other tournaments without a main draw win.
And then in the Indian Wells Open, she overcame Anhelina Kalinina in the first round in straight sets to set up a meeting with the seeded Magdelana Frech.
Now while Frech was a 17/20 favourite coming into that second round encounter, it was Bronzetti, who took two hours of court time, to defeat her Polish opponent.
Bronzetti won 6-3, 7-5 despite losing her serve four times including twice in both sets. The Italian just got the better of Frech’s service on six occasions.
