Cori Gauff v Belinda Bencic Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Gauff leads 2-1.
Bencic had won in Adelaide in 2021 before Gauff came back with victories at the 2023 Washington Open and 2025 Australian Open.
Gauff Thwarts Sakkari’s Fight
While Maria Sakkari’s form and results have both been a battle for her, she did put up a fight for some portion of her third round match against Cori Gauff.
Their encounter began with four successive breaks of serves because sanity prevailed and the two began to hold on to their service games.
Gauff had a set-point off Sakkari’s serve in the 10th game before she eventually grabbed the set in the tie-breaker that followed.
In the second, Gauff ran away to a 2-0 lead before Sakkari levelled things out in the fourth game with a break of serve. From that point on, however, Gauff broke the Greek number one on two more occasions to win 7-6 (1), 6-2.
This follows a first round bye and a second round win over Moyuka Uchijima which took Gauff three sets.

Bencic Form Continues with Shnaider Win
Belinda Bencic had been tested in the second round by WTA Doha winner Amanda Anisimova but she had no such problems against Diana Shnaider in the third.
While Shnaider managed to keep Bencic for an hour and 40 minutes on court, the Swiss player still managed to clinch a 6-4, 6-4 victory to move to the fourth round of a competition she hadn’t played last year.
What that means is that Bencic, who has a 16-4 win-loss record for the season including a title in Abu Dhabi, has moved into the top 50 of the live WTA Rankings.
She did lose to Gauff earlier this year but her confidence seems to have grown with every passing day on the tour since then and it might lead to a different result.
Gauff v Bencic Predictions
Gauff is 1/2 to win this which seems to be par for the course given how well Bencic has gone about her business since her return to the sport. We think we could see an upset here with Bencic managing to scrape past her world number three opponent.
Gauff v Bencic Tips
- Bencic to win: 8/5
