Fils Edges Past Giron
Arthur Fils continues to impress fans and experts alike and can be expected to break back into the top 20 after sealing off a quarterfinal berth at the Indian Wells Masters.
And he did that by edging out local lad Marcos Giron in their fourth round match, winning in three sets.
In a match that went on for an hour and 50 minutes, Fils won 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 to make it to the last eight stage of an ATP 1000 event for the first time in his career. He had entered the third round here last year.
Both players won a set apiece in identical manner – breaking twice to grab it – before an early break in the decider gave Fils a 2-0 lead. From that point onward, he kept holding on without facing a break-point to complete the victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Fils had a first round bye to his name before defeating Gabriel Diallo and Lorenzo Musetti in the next two rounds.

Medvedev in a Rousing Win over Paul
A finalist at this event in 2023 and 2024, Daniil Medvedev took another step to get close to making it three times in a row with a crushing win over Tommy Paul.
Medvedev was a 6-4, 6-0 winner against Paul in a match that went just 15 minutes over the hour.
The first set looked set to be one-way traffic when Medvedev took a 4-0 lead with two breaks of serve but Paul retaliated with two of his own to level things out at 4-4.
But just when it seemed like Medvedev was on the back-foot, he went on to break his American opponent four more times, winning eight games in a row to finish off the match.
Medvedev had earlier earned a first round bye and then beaten Bu Yunchaokete before Alex Michelsen retired from their third round match.
This win makes it the first time this season that Medvedev has notched up three victories in a row.
