Moyuka Uchijima v Olivia Gadecki Head to Head
After five meetings on the ITF circuit in which Gadecki won three times, they finally faced off on the WTA Tour, in the qualifiers of the 2024 WTA Wuhan. Uchijima won that encounter in straight sets.
In fact Uchijima has won their last three meetings.
Uchijima with a Slow Start to 2025
2024 was a year to remember for Moyuka Uchijima when she climbed up the WTA Rankings from being 199th in the world the previous season to finish with a 62nd rank to her name in 2024.
This was thanks to the five ITF titles she won last year, of the 13 the Japanese player has grabbed in her career.
Uchijima would have liked to start off the new season with a better showing but fell in the first round of the Brisbane International and then failed to qualify for the Adelaide International.
She shocked Magda Linette in the first round of the Australian Open before losing to Mirra Andreeva in the second – leaving her with a 1-3 record for the year so far.
Gadecki 0-4 for the Season
Olivia Gadecki was one of the Aussie players to represent her country at the United Cup but that didn’t go too well for her.
She lost both her matches in that competition, falling to Nadia Podoroska and Katie Boulter in straight sets apiece.
And things went from bad to worse when Gadecki won a mere five games against Daria Kasatkina in Adelaide and lost 6-1, 6-1 to Veronika Kudermetova at the Australian Open.
While three of these four opponents are pedigreed players on hardcourt surfaces, Gadecki will be a bit alarmed by the manner of her capitulation.
Gadecki will look to turn things around here against Uchijima but she will have her work cut out.
Uchijima v Gadecki Prediction
While the odds suggest there is not much between them with Uchijima only a slight favourite at 17/20, we think that she has a very good chance of winning this and in double-quick time too.
