Arthur Rinderknech v Nikoloz Basilashvili Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players between the 2021-22 period and Basilashvili leads 2-1.
While Rinderknech will be glad to have won his only match against Basilashvili in an indoor hardcourt competition in Metz, his opponent clinched his two victories at Doha and Halle.
Rinderknech Huffs & Puffs Past Mayot
Following a quite underwhelming start to the season, Arthur Rinderknech was in a desperate need of a win when he took to the court against Harold Mayot.
That he was taken to a tie-breaker and dropped a set on his way to his first win of the season speaks volumes about the kinds of struggles that Rinderknech has been facing recently.
Once ranked 42nd in the world, Rinderknech hasn’t lost a lot of ground but is still nearly 20 places away from his best. And that could be down to a combination of the odd solid result but a consistent lack of deep runs over the past two years.
Last year he had made the quarterfinal at this very tournament, which included a win over Jiri Lehecka, before he fell to Grigor Dimitrov. Surely, getting past Basilashvili should be a lot easier?

Basilashvili Finally Wins a Round
For someone who was playing on the Futures circuit just a year ago, having begun the 2024 season ranked 596th in the world, Nikoloz Basilashvili has done well to finally win a round at the highest level.
This came in the first round of this competition when Basilashvili needed three sets to overcome Mikhail Kukushkin and set up his meeting with a player he has beaten twice before.
Having made it through to the competition by winning two qualifying rounds, Basilashvili benefitted from a late retirement from his opponent but by then the match was already headed his way.
Basilashvili was leading 5-0 in the final set after an hour and 47 minutes of battle before Kukushkin called it off.
Can Basilashvili take advantage of Rinderknech’s struggles now?
Rinderknech v Basilashvili Prediction
It’s no surprise that Rinderknech is an 11/20 favourite here but we don’t think there’s that much of a difference between these two players which is why Basilashvili’s 7/5 are high-risk-high-gain odds that one could look at.
