Maria Sakkari v Dayana Yastremska Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2024 Miami Open in which Sakkari defeated Yastremska in straight sets.
Sakkari Easy Winner over Tomova
Maria Sakkari has had a woeful start to the season but truth be told she has also had a few tough draws.
It started with the United Cup where she faced Elena Rybakina in one of the two matches she played. This was followed by a loss in the Adelaide qualifiers to Peyton Stearns before Sakkari made it through as a lucky loser, only to lose to Jessica Pegula.
And then Camila Osorio got the better of Sakkari at the Australian Open.
The good news for Sakkari is she looked like her old self in her second round win here against Viktoriya Tomova, ending a 6-3, 6-2 victor. She was on court for an hour and 17 minutes and staved off the only break-point she encountered in the match.
Sakkari got 71% of her first serves in and won a whopping 74% of them – something she would like to continue as she goes deeper into the competition.

Yastremska Has Little Trouble against Ruzic
Dayana Yastremska’s steady start to the season continued as she stormed into the quarterfinal in Linz with a straight-set win over Antonia Ruzic.
Ruzic put up a bit of a fight in the first set but once Yastremska had bagged that, she took only a further 28 minutes to clinch the win. She came away a 7-5, 6-1 victor.
While Yastremska conceded the upper hand in the very first game when she got broken, she slowly came back and turned things around when her opponent served for a 5-3 lead.
In the second set, Ruzic went 1-0 up with another break of serve but Yastremska retaliated with three successive breaks of her own to end the encounter.
This follows a tough opening win against Lucia Bronzetti which had followed successive victories at both Hobart and Australian Open.
Can she make it three in three here?
Sakkari v Yastremska Prediction
While Sakkari’s the favourite here, we don’t think it would be as easy as the 1/2 odds for her win suggest. We reckon things could get a lot tighter and Yastremska might even go on to shock the world number 31.
Sakkari v Yastremska Tips
- Set Handicap Yastremska +1.5: 4/6
- Yastremska to win: 13/10
