Wang v Teichmann Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and Wang had won that. It had come in the WTA Osaka in 2023.
Wang Ousts Joint
One brings two. That seems to be the case for Xinyu Wang who had come into this tournament on the back of three successive first round exits – at Brisbane, Adelaide and the Australian Open – but has now gone on to win back to back matches in Singapore.
Wang was pushed to her limits in her opening round win over Rebecca Marino and it was almost as if that victory reaffirmed her belief in her own self.
She came out all guns blazing against Maya Joint and completed an easy, 6-4, 6-2 victory over the Aussie qualifier.
While Joint took an early 3-0 lead, Wang wasn’t going anywhere and broke her opponent twice in a row to clinch the set. And she took that same form into the second set as she overcame Joint’s serve two more times in the first two attempts.
Can she now make it to her first tournament semifinal since the Wuhan Open last year?

Teichmann Continues Her Good Work
Having fallen to outside of the top 120 on the WTA charts, not many would have expected Jil Teichmann to make it to the quarterfinals in Singapore. Some might have even bet against her entering the main draw with the Swiss player needing to make it through the qualifiers to enter round one.
In the tournament main, Teichmann had already coasted to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Harriet Dart and with her confidence garnering momentum with every victory it was no surprise she started off a favourite against Olivia Gadecki in the second round.
Teichmann took that confidence through and grabbed a 6-4, 6-4 win over her Aussie opponent to seal her place in the last eight – the last time she won successive matches in a hardcourt competition to enter the quarterfinal was in Dubai in 2022.
That’s right, nearly three years ago.
She will look to make a match of this one.
Wang v Teichmann Prediction
It’s been a dream run for Teichmann and truth be told, it’s been one for Wang too given the kind of form she had coming into this one. With Wang’s record in hardcourt competitions way better than Teichmann’s, we can back her to win this.
Wang v Teichmann Tips
- Wang to win: 11/20
- Wang to win in straight sets: 6/4
