Martinez v Bautista Agut Head to Head
There have two previous meetings between these players on the ATP circuit and one other match on the Challenger tour. All three matches have come on clay and Martinez leads 3-0.
Martinez Struggles Outside of Clay
As can be gauged by the the head to head section too, Pedro Martinez loves his time on clay.
Which is also why the last time Martinez had a season in which he ended with a positive head to head in hardcourt tournaments across any level was in 2020 when he won six and lost five matches.
This year the world number 44 kick-started his season with a first round win at the Hong Kong Open but that was followed by back to back losses including one in the opening round in Auckland.
Martinez managed to move to the second round at the Australian Open thanks to the retirement of Luciano Darderi but then lost easily to Alexander Zverev.
On a lot quicker indoor hardcourt surface, Martinez could have a bit of a problem.

Bautista Agut 0-2 in 2025
Roberto Bautista Agut is a former top-10 player but has fallen off the grid a little bit.
Now 36 years of age, Bautista Agut hasn’t had the best of time recently but he can take heart from the fact that he managed to improve his ranking from 57th at the end of the 2023 season to 51st at the start of 2025.
Unfortunately for Bautista Agut, he hasn’t had the greatest of starts to this year.
He was sent packing in the first set of the Adelaide International in straight sets by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina before losing to Denis Shapovalov in the Australian Open opener. He did put up a strong fight in that second match and had a chance to take it to the final set.
Bautista Agut will hope to make this opener count.
Martinez v Bautista Agut Prediction
While Martinez is slightly better ranked, it will be Bautista Agut who starts off a favourite in a hardcourt competition. Backing him to make it through even if his opponent puts up some fight.
Martinez v Bautista Agut Tips
- Bautista Agut to win: 9/20
