Stefanos Tsitsipas v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the 2023 Australian Open and Tsitsipas had won that in straight sets.
Tsitsipas Eases Past Mayot
It’s not been the kind of start to the season that Stefanos Tsitsipas would have hoped or expected.
A 1-1 record at the United Cup which played its part in knocking Greece out in round one and a first round exit at the hands of Alex Michelsen at the Australian Open would have been a big cause for concern.
So while he did manage to get past Harold Mayot in the first round here, the bigger tests will be coming soon and he would want to get some confidence under his belt.
And that would only be possible if he can get into some winning rhythm, especially against players outside the top 10. A 6-1, 7-5 win over Mayot could be a start of his resurrection, especially given he faced no break-points in the entire match but now comes a bigger test than the first one.

Griekspoor Wins a Thriller against Berrettini
It took Tallon Griekspoor three sets, two tie-breakers and nearly two and a half hours to cause a first round upset when he took out the 11/20 favourite Berrettini.
In what was a good quality encounter, Griekspoor overcame Berrettini 6-3, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (4).
Griekspoor has a quite solid record indoors, and was a semifinalist at this competition last year too. Having played a couple of tie-breakers to win his quarterfinals last year, Griekspoor used that to get past Berrettini in the final set after, admittedly, he did not get any chances to get past his opponent’s serve.
That gave him his 26th win on this surface since the beginning of 2023, making it the second most for any player after Jannik Sinner.
Can he now add a 27th?
Tsitsipas v Griekspoor Prediction
What’s interesting to see is that despite the obvious difference in their rankings, there’s nothing to choose between the two when it comes to what the bookmakers think. Playing at home and with the kind of support he has, Griekspoor could hold an edge here.
