Frances Tiafoe v Yoshihito Nishioka Head to Head
Since Nishioka defeated Tiafoe in their very first meeting that came in 2016 in the final of a Challenger event, there have been four matches between them on the ATP circuit.

It took Frances Tiafoe some time to get going and clinch his first round win over Taro Daniel. Tiafoe, who was the 1/5 favourite going into the encounter, did not play like one at all and ended up needing an hour and 47 minutes to clinch the win.
He won 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 as he struggled to get as many first serves as he would have liked. In fact, Daniel had both his numbers – his first serve percentage and his first serves won percentage higher than his opponent.
It was off the second serves that Tiafoe managed to attack his opponent a lot more, winning 19 of the 28 points off Daniel’s second serve.

Nishioka Stuns Nakashima
Yoshihito Nishioka had entered the tournament on the back of successive wins in the Davis Cup where he had helped Japan pip Great Britain.
And he carried that form on further into Dallas where he overcame Brandon Nakashima to enter the second round in a tournament for the third time this year.
What made the win even more special was the fact that he did not face a single break-point in the entire encounter even as he managed to break Nakashima once.
Nishioka won 6-4, 7-6 (6) to grab the win and will now be the second Japanese player in a row that Tiafoe faces in this tournament. Can he put up an equally strong fight as Daniel had last round?
