Andrey Rublev v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Hurkacz leads 3-2.
All of these matches have come between the 2020-2023 period with Hurkacz starting off with a victory in Rome and also clinching their most recent encounter that came in Shanghai in 2023.
That Shanghai Masters win came in the final, getting Hurkacz his second ATP 1000 title.
Rublev Stretched but Avenges Marozsan Loss
The last time Andrey Rublev had played Fabian Marozsan was his first match of the season which came at the Hong Kong Open about a month or so ago.
Rublev was expected to ease to a win there but as it turned out, Marozsan shocked his Russian opponent in three sets.
This time around, however, Rublev was more prepared for Marozsan as we had surmised in our preview to that encounter, and while he was tested yet again, he managed to come away with a win.
It took Rublev an hour and 47 minutes and two tie-breakers to get past his Hungarian opponent with both players losing their serve on two occasions.
Things will get tougher for Rublev now but he will be relieved to have registered two wins in a row having earlier beaten Zhizhen Zhang too. Can he make it three in three for the first time this season?

Hurkacz Aided by Lehecka Injury
Hubert Hurkacz had entered his second round match against Jiri Lehecka on the back of an excellent showing in his opener against Flavio Cobolli. The bookmakers had pegged him as a slight underdog too with an offer of 11/10 for his win.
As things turned out, Hurkacz looked like he was in a reasonably good position after winning the first set and leading by a break in the second when his opponent opted to retire from the match.
Lehecka later updated his fitness status on social media, revealing that he had a left thigh injury and will need tests to determine the next course of action.
That course of action is more straightforward for Hurkacz though as he takes on a player whom he has not only beaten in the past but also someone who has had a jittery time this season.
This would be a good time for Hurkacz to turn on the heat and add on to his 5-4 win-loss record for the season.
Rublev v Hurkacz Prediction
While Rublev looks like he has found some of his rhythm back, he still doesn’t look to be at his best and with Hurkacz himself being a little down on form, it could turn out to be an interesting match-up. We could even see a three-setter.
Rublev v Hurkacz Tips
- Over 22.5 games in the match: 11/20
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
