Jabeur Building up Nicely to Back to the Best
Ons Jabeur was ranked second in the world but fitness issues had set her back a tad last year.
Her comeback has been steady and she is now showing signs of getting back to her best as she takes to court in a competition she has been a part of since 2012.
A quarterfinalist at this tournament in 2020, this will be Jabeur’s fifth tournament of the season.
She has won at least one round in each of them, to go with three successive victories in Brisbane, and back to back third round appearances at the Australian Open and WTA Abu Dhabi last week.

Kessler Still Basking in Hobart Win
Having opened her WTA title count at Cleveland last year, McCartney Kessler doubled it in Hobart when she defeated Elise Mertens in the final to lift the trophy.
Since then, however, things haven’t quite gone her way as Kessler looks to get back to her career-best ranking of 47th in the world.
The American fell in the very first round of the Australian Open to the 36-year-old Shuai Zhang, and while she made it through the qualifiers in Abu Dhabi last week, her countrywoman Ashlyn Krueger got the better of her in three hard-fought sets.
And now she takes on a far more experienced Jabeur here in the opener – Kessler will have a tough time avoiding a hat-trick of opening round defeats.
This will be her first showing in Qatar.
