Carlos Alcaraz v Alex de Minaur Head to Head
There have been two previous matches played between these two players and Alcaraz has won them both. The first came at the 2022 Barcelona Open where Alcaraz needed three sets to get past the Aussie while in the second which came at the Queen’s final of 2023, he was a straight-set winner.
Alcaraz Wins Keen Tussle with Hurkacz
Carlos Alcaraz needed two hours and 23 minutes but more importantly was forced to raise the level of his game against Hubert Hurkacz before he was able to get past his opponent.
The Australian Open quarterfinalist won 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 as he lost just one service game while getting past his opponent’s serve on three occasions.
That break of serve came in his very first service game which allowed Hurkacz to take a 3-0 lead before Alcaraz came back and broke twice. Incidentally, such was the dominance of Hurkacz in the initial stages of the opening set that Alcaraz would later admit he could have even lost it 0-6.
The second set went on serve till Hurkacz found a way to get past Alcaraz in the tie-breaker thanks to a Spaniard double-fault. In the decider, Hurkacz lost steam and once Alcaraz had found a way past his serve, there was no looking back.
This follows a three-set win over Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round and two straightforward victories against Andrea Vavassori and Pedro Martinez in the next two.

de Minaur Blast Bellucci Away
We have been talking up Alex de Minaur’s chances in these matches and that’s to do with the kind of tennis he has been playing throughout the season.
Sure there was a straight-set loss to Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open earlier this year but other than that de Minaur has not only looked in control but also clinched his victories in clinical manner.
The latest of these wins came against Mattia Bellucci whose hopes he dashed 6-1, 6-2. Bellucci had come into the match with wins over Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas but de Minaur proved to be made of a different cloth.
The Aussie needed a little over an hour and four breaks of serves, from four break-points, to grab the victory. What it meant was that de Minaur has now entered the final having lost a mere 22 games from his four wins this tournament.
Against Alcaraz that could change but unlike the Sinner match in Melbourne, we could see a much better and bigger fight from de Minaur.
Alcaraz v de Minaur Prediction
The in-form Alex de Minaur will look to keep up the fight, just like Hurkacz did in the semis and we could see a reasonably high quality encounter again.
