Iga Swiatek v Jelena Ostapenko Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players, at 2019 Birmingham, 2021 in Indian Wells, 2022 in Dubai and the 2023 US Open, and surprise, surprise, Ostapenko has won them all!
Swiatek Eases Past Rybakina
The kind of form that Iga Swiatek has been in the 2025 WTA Qatar, it might be difficult to stop from winning her fourth successive title here.
That sense of ruthlessness was on offer when Swiatek took oh Elena Rybakina in what was a repeat of last year’s final and she clinched a place in the semifinal with a 6-2, 7-5 win.
The first set was a breeze for Swiatek who broke the world number seven on two occasions to take the lead. In the second, Rybakina came into her own for a bit as she went 2-0 up and was soon serving for a 5-3 lead.
Swiatek broke her opponent in the eighth game and then again when Rybakina served at 5-6 to stay in the match, completing her victory in an hour and 36 minutes.
This follows a straight-set win over Maria in the second round which had followed an opening bye and a rather hard-fought victory in the third where Linda Noskova took a set off her.

Ostapenko Blows Jabeur Away
Ons Jabeur has been one of the more consistent players this season among those outside the top 10 and it was no surprise she had gone into her quarterfinal against Jelena Ostapenko as a 4/6 favourite.
On her part, Ostapenko had lost four of the five matches she featured in before this tournament, making her one of the rank outsiders coming into this.
A finalist here in 2016, Ostapenko looks to have shrugged off her form issues and started taking down opponents in a jiffy. The latest one in question was Jabeur, whom Ostapenko routed 6-2, 6-2 to reach the semifinals.
In a match lasting an hour and 11 minutes, the two traded early breaks to take them to 2-2 in the first set but that was the last time that Jabeur had a semblance of a chance.
The Latvian player won 10 of the next 12 games to seal her semifinal berth, having earlier overcome Aoi Ito, Liudmilla Samsonova and Jasmine Paolini – all of which came in straight sets.
She could prove to be a challenge for Swiatek.
Swiatek v Ostapenko Prediction
While Swiatek starts a favourite here, Ostapenko is coming into this with a 4-0 record against her and with the kind of form she has had in this tournament. We think it could get close with Ostapenko taking a set off her opponent at the very least.
