Zhizhen Zhang v Zizou Bergs Head to Head
They first played in the 2022 US Open qualifiers where Zhang won. This was followed by a match on the Challenger circuit in 2023 and another in Shanghai in 2024 where Bergs didn’t drop a set to get the wins.
Zhang Stuns Hurkacz
Zhizhen Zhang was a whopping 3/1 going into his second round encounter against Hubert Hurkacz and given how the Chinese player had done all season it looked like the result was a foregone conclusion.
All of that changed dramatically when Zhang broke Hurkacz in the very first game of the encounter and went on to pocket the set soon after.
Despite Hurkacz knowing he was in a contest now, he failed to break Zhang in the second set and while he grabbed the set in a tie-breakers things were about to get a lot tougher for him.
Zhang continued to hold on to his serve, with Hurkacz failing to even earn a break-point. With the pressure building, Zhang broke his Polish opponent in the eighth game before serving it out in the next game.
This follows a three-set win in the previous round against Quentin Halys, and together with this victory over Hurkacz, took Zhang to his fourth win of the season.

Bergs Overcomes Borges
It’s been a season to remember for Zizou Bergs who is slowly moving towards his career-best ranking of 60th in the world. That has been thanks to his performance at the Auckland Open where he started off as a qualifier and went on to make it to the final.
While Bergs lost in the first round of the Australian Open, he has come back to win four matches in a row including two in the Davis Cup.
The latest of those four victories came in the second round of this competition where he defeated Nuno Borges.
Bergs won 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2 in an encounter lasting two hours and 11 minutes. He faced two break-points in the entire match, saved both of them while getting the better of Borges’ serve four times.
He will look to make it another win in what has turned into a burgeoning season for Bergs.
