Taylor Fritz v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head
There have been three main draw matches and one qualifier played between these two and it’s 2-2 on head to head. The last time they faced off was in the 2022 Paris Masters and Fritz had clinched a straight-set win.
Fritz Thwarts Bu
Gunning for his third title in a row at Delray Beach, Taylor Frtitz began his campaign with a straight-set win over Yunchaokete Bu.
Following a first round bye, the world number four overcame Bu 7-6 (4), 6-2 to seal his quarterfinal berth.
Bu did push Fritz hard in the opening set as he kept holding on to his serve but unable to get the better of Fritz’s serve. The American then grabbed the opening set in the following tie-breaker.
In the second, Fritz broke Bu twice and clinched the victory in an hour and 38 minutes.
This win followed a 7-3 win-loss record for Fritz prior to the start of this tournament which included a third round loss at the Australian Open and a second round defeat in Dallas.

Fokina Shrugs off the McDonald Challenge
Mackenzie McDonald had surprised a few with his opening round with over Kei Nishikori and he did look like he could push Alejandro Davidovich Fokina too at one stage. In the end, however, Fokina proved to be just that little bit better and marched into the quarterfinals with a three-set win over his American opponent.
While Fokina was on court for two hours and 18 minutes and dropped the second set, his work-rate in the other two sets proved to be too much to handle for McDonald.
Fokina clinched his quarterfinal spot with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-0 win, breaking his opponent a whopping seven times in the encounter.
Before this Fokina had eased past Taro Daniel in the first round.
Fokina’s overall form this season has been solid with a fourth round appearance at the Australian Open being his top showing.
Can he now do to Fritz what he had done to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the season’s first major when he defeated the 22nd-ranked player in a fighting five-setter there?
Fritz v Fokina Prediction
Fokina will put up a challenge but Fritz is hungry, coming off a mediocre start to the season for a fourth-ranked player and gunning for a hat-trick of titles here. Expecting a win for the American but probably in a keen tussle between the two.
Fritz v Fokina Tips
- Fritz to win: 1/2
- Over 21.5 games in the match: 4/5
