Diana Shnaider v Magdalena Frech Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players, both of which came last year and both players have won one. It started with a Shnaider victory at the Canadian Open before Frech made it 1-1 with a win in Beijing.
Shnaider Shocked in Doha Opener
Diana Shnaider hasn’t quite been able to capture the kind of form that was on show from her racquet last year.
The world number 13 went on to win four titles in 2024, spread across all the three different types of surfaces, and was one of the most improved players of the season.
And while she did make it to the quarterfinals at the Adelaide International and the third round at the Australian Open to kick-start the season, there have been two other results that Shnaider might not have been too happy about.
Shnaider was knocked out of the Brisbane International in her opener, losing to Anhelina Kalinina. And more recently, in Doha, Shnaider proved to be no match for Alycia Parks who beat her in straight sets.
The Russian needs a drastic turnaround here.

Inconsistent Frech Looking to Collect More Wins
While Magdalena Frech did make it through to the third round at the Australian Open earlier this year, that has remained her best performance of this short season so far.
And that’s spread across the five tournaments she has played this season.
In the other four, Frech has registered just one win – which did come against Beatriz Haddad Maia – but some of those losses would definitely sting.
These include one in Brisbane to Suzan Lamens, and to Linda Noskova in Abu Dhabi before fellow Polish player Magda Linette took her out in Doha.
It does look like Frech’s turnaround is just around the corner but she needs some luck with the draw and collect a few early wins.
Shnaider v Frech Prediction
Frech has the advantage given her recent form and we will have to back her to grab this one. Might take three sets to do that though.
Shnaider v Frech Tips
- Frech to win: 10/11
- Three sets in the match: 6/5
