Anna Kalinskaya v Elina Svitolina Head to Head
There has been only one previous meeting between these two players and it was Svitolina who had won that 2024 Italian Open contest.
Kalinskaya Struggling with Fitness, Form
The biggest question on everyone’s lips when it comes to Anna Kalinskaya is if she is fit.
That’s been the nature of her career so far with fitness and injuries playing a bigger role than they do for an average tennis player. Kalinskaya has had a few fitness-related withdrawals and retirements from tournaments and matches and things have begun no differently this year.
Kalinskaya was first blasted out of her Brisbane International opener in straight sets by Ashlyn Krueger before she retired from her Adelaide International opener against Belinda Bencic.
A week later, Kalinskaya was a last-minute withdrawal from the Australian Open and when she returned in Singapore and made the semifinals there, it brought back hope.
Except that the Russian was then forced to retire from that last four encounter against Ann Li too. And since then she has featured in Doha last week and lost to the 9/5 underdog Cristina Bucsa in her opener.
Playing Svitolina first up here will be a tough one to crack.

Svitolina Aiming for Australian Open Form
Elina Svitolina had opted not to feature in any of the pre-Grand Slam tournaments this year but once she played at the Australian Open, she went on a rampage.
The world number 22 eased past Sorana Cirstea and Caroline Dolehide in the first two rounds there, edged out the world number four Jasmine Paolini in the third before sending Veronika Kudermetova out in the fourth.
It took the eventual winner Madison Keys to take down Svitolina.
What has been surprising to watch has been her performance after. She was beaten by Anna Blinkova in the very first round at Linz and while Svitolina overcame getting a bagel against her name in the opening set by Marketa Vondrousova, she lost in the second round to Jessica Pegula.
Svitolina will hope for a better showing here but first things first, she will need to get things off to a good start,
Kalinskaya v Svitolina Prediction
There is neither form nor fitness and it would be very surprising if she managed to even give more than a token fight to Svitolina. Straight-set win in the offing for the Ukrainian.
Kalinskaya v Svitolina Tips
- Svitolina to win: 9/20
- Svitolina to win in straight sets: 7/5
