Sebastian Baez v Sumit Nagal Preview
Head-to-Head: Their only previous meeting came in Geneva last year and Baez had won that opening round match in straight sets.
Sebastian Baez hasn’t had the best of starts to the season, especially at the highest level and will be looking to make amends when he takes to court for his opener here.
That’s because after losing both his openers in the Australian Open Swing, Baez might have made the semifinals at the Rosario Challenger but then struggled to get going in Buenos Aires again.
After his winning his opener at his home competition played on his favourite surface, Baez went down to the 8/5 underdog Thiago Seyboth Wild in the second.
The good news for him is he faces Sumit Nagal first up, a player ranked 130th in the world and one who hasn’t won a main draw match at this level in nearly seven months.
Nagal last entered the second round an ATP event in July last year when he overcame Lukas Klein in a hard-fought three-setter in Kitzbuhel.
This season has been a big struggle for the Indian though and he is coming off an underwhelming performance in Buenos Aires where he made the main draw as a lucky loser and lost in straight sets to Corentin Moutet.
Baez v Nagal prediction: Baez to win in straight sets: 4/6

Tomas Martin Etcheverry v Corentin Moutet Preview
Head-to-Head: Etcheverry and Moutet have never faced off before this.
After having kick-started the season in hardcourt competitions played down under and with three wins and three losses across them, Tomas Martin Etcheverry would have been confident entering the next stage of the season.
He did win and lose one match apiece in Argentina’s Davis Cup tie against Norway but come the home competition in Buenos Aires, Etcheverry was laid low in the very first round.
Now there are mitigating circumstances, one might argue given that he was drawn against Joao Fonseca in the very first round and his opponent has been talked about as the next big thing. Fonseca, in fact, went on to win the title as well.
Out here though will be interesting to watch if Etcheverry can now get back to his winning streak on clay having had an 18-11 record on it last year.
He faces the 66th-ranked Corentin Moutet, who made the third round at the Australian Open in the only tournament he played before his clay endeavours.
Moutet then eased past Sumit Nagal in the Argentina Open before falling to Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.
Etcheverry v Moutet prediction: Etcheverry to win in straight sets: 6/5
