Tallon Griekspoor v Roman Safiullin Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2024 Australian Open and Tallon Griekspoor had won that encounter in five sets.
Griekspoor 4-4 in the Season
Having kick-started the season with an opening round loss at the Australian Open, Tallon Griekspoor has slowly clawed back to some sort of respectability in the tournaments that have followed.
Griekspoor isn’t quite fully there, at least not the levels he had shown when he hit his career-best ranking of 21st in the world, but he has been slowly and steadily doing his bit this year.
It was on show at Montpellier where he overcame Botic van de Zandschulp and Richard Gasquet in the first two rounds to make it to the quarterfinals, and followed that up with two successive first round wins in Rotterdam and Doha.
Unfortunately for Griekspoor, he hasn’t been able to get the better of the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini in the second rounds there and that’s something he would like to change quickly.

Safiullin Still Waiting for First Main Draw Win of the Season
Having ended the previous season with a second round loss at the Belgrade Open, Roman Safiullin has not won a main draw match since then.
It started with a first round loss at the hands of Fabian Marozsan in Hong Kong, and then went down to Manuel Guinard in Adelaide. Thanasi Kokkinakis defeated him at the Australian Open to make it four losses in a row before Alex de Minaur coasted to an easy victory in Doha.
What that meant was that Safiullin entered the qualifiers here on the back of five defeats without a win. That he event went past Nikoloz Basilashvili and Otto Virtanen to make the main draw was a relief but his real test comes now.
Can he now use this momentum from the qualifying wins to make it his maiden opening round win?
Griekspoor v Safiullin Prediction
Griekspoor holds the edge at 1/2 but with Safiullin having won a couple of qualifiers could come into this with a better mindset and that might help him get close.
Griekspoor v Safiullin Tips
- Safiullin to win a set – Yes: 1/2
